Message From Our President

Good morning NWAPA directors,

As we head back to school over the coming weeks, we are all prioritizing what’s best for our kids and what is best for our programs.  Similarly, the NWAPA is currently working on options for our winter season.  Above all, we are prioritizing safety and the welfare of our student performers while providing the best forum where they can perform.

In the coming weeks the NWAPA will be submitting an online survey for your consideration.  We would like your feedback on the upcoming winter season regarding its season length, competitive nature, and possible virtual offerings.  This survey would be followed up by our fall membership meeting being moved from August to mid-September.

Best wishes on your safe return to campus, and thank you for your patience as we navigate the upcoming school year.

NWAPA FALL 2020 Season Update

In light of the ongoing COVID19 concerns as well as the uncertainty our membership faces over the coming weeks and months as schools figure out how to operate in the fall, the NWAPA will not be sanctioning competitive events for the 2020 fall season. Instead, we will work with show hosts to develop non-competitive events in accordance with federal, state, county, and school district guidelines. We will periodically provide updates concerning any possible fall 2020 events as more information becomes available.

Please know these actions cover the 2020 fall season only. We look forward to returning to our normal schedule of competitive events for the fall of 2021.  Additionally, we are excited to plan a full competitive schedule for our Winter Winds, Winter Guards, and Winter Percussion ensembles for the 2021 winter season as we are eager to have our students back in a safe performance setting.

The NWAPA will always act in the best interest of our students and their families.

Please contact JJ Sutton (president@nwapa.net) if you have any questions or if you would like to share your thoughts and concerns.

Thank you and have a fun and safe 2020-2021 school year!

Fall 2020 Band Director Update Meeting

The NWAPA is hosting a virtual meeting for all circuit band directors to discuss options for the fall.  As discussed in the NWAPA May Membership meeting, the board has been meeting and gathering information and feedback over the last month in regards to the upcoming season.  We would like to meet again with as many directors as possible to review this information and hear your thoughts.  We live in ever changing times and it’s important to us that we hear your voice and involve you in the conversation as well as the decisions that need to be made.  A Google Meet invite was emailed to the last address we have on file for all band directors whose unit participated between 2016 and 2019.  If you did not receive the note and would like to attend, please email us at web@nwapa.net
